William S. Thomson Scholarship |
|
|
The Berlin Chamber of
Commerce Scholarship, funded
through the Berlin Chamber
Open golf tournament, was
named after William “Bill”
Thomson of Thomson
Financial Services,
Southington. Bill Thomson
died suddenly on Sunday
morning, January 5th, 2003
after spending the previous
evening enjoying his family
& friends.
At the time of his death,
Bill was an insurance agent
with his son Rob. He was the
Berlin Chamber of Commerce’s
49th President and the
Chamber’s Chairman of the
Berlin Chamber Open. He was
also named the Chamber’s
“Business Person of the
Year” in 2001. |
|
Bill was
involved with many Southington civic
activities as well, including those
of the Southington Chamber of
Commerce, Rotary International, and
more. Bill always had time for his
commitments to his family, his work,
and his community service.
Bill
loved to golf, loved his family and
often was found meeting with friends
over breakfast or dinner. Bill’s
level of volunteerism continues to
inspire those who also receive the
Berlin Chamber’s “William S. Thomson
Community Service Award” each March,
presented by his wife Ellie at the
Chamber’s Annual Meeting.
Bill
is still missed by many and we hope
his level of volunteerism continues
to inspire. |
